Snap Hackathon Developers Madrid
Over the weekend, nearly 30 developers worked tirelessly at the Popular Payments Snap* Hack in Madrid, Spain to create innovative new mobile and web applications that facilitate digital payment acceptance via the EVO Snap* Platform. For more than 12 hours, 6 teams labored to impress judges with their hacks and creations.
Elena Álvarez, Business Development Manager of Snap* Spain and member of the hackathon judging panel, declared the hackathon a technological success saying, “it’s clear the Snap* Platform can be leveraged by any business to facilitate in-app payment acceptance in less than 24 hours. For us, the relationship with the developer community is crucial because their feedback allows us continually improve upon the strength’s of Snap*.”
Winner
Performband is a mobile application that enables users to easily reward their favorite street performers and artists with real-time payments via the EVO Snap* Platform. Using the app, artists can publish an NFC tag or QR code that allows observers to send real-time digital payments to the artist. Winning team members Alejandro Rodríguez Salamanca, Francisco Javier Honduvilla and Jorge Rodríguez Dueñas applauded the hackathon saying, “[it] was a very stimulating experience that allowed us to meet people with our same interests and served as a professional platform, too.”

Also recognized by judges were LowPopTickets – an application to buy movie tickets via the internet, and Pentagon – an app for processing payments using NFC.
